A Working City With a Lot of Concrete
McKinney won the county seat in a ten-to-one election after the Legislature called for a more central site in 1848, and the Houston and Texas Central reached it in 1872. The Handbook of Texas describes a town built on cotton gins, a cotton compress and a cottonseed oil mill, followed by a textile mill, a large dairy and a garment manufacturer.
That working past helps explain the variety here today. With 195,308 people at the 2020 count, McKinney has mature neighborhoods, brand-new subdivisions, older commercial buildings and busy retail centers all within a short drive of each other.

More Than Just Garages
Flake garage floors are still the most common request, particularly in established neighborhoods where the original concrete has picked up years of oil and tire marks. The city also brings more variety than most, with shops, salons, offices and showrooms interested in coatings that look good and clean up fast.
In older buildings, it pays to find out what is already on the floor. Adhesive from removed flooring, old sealers and past patches all affect how a coating bonds. Tell us what you know about the building's history, and we can address it at the estimate stage.
