The all-rounder
Epoxy Floor Coatings in Melissa, TX
A hard-wearing, seamless finish for concrete that has a job to do, at home or at work. If a room gets dirty, wet or busy, this is usually where the conversation starts.

The Trouble With Plain Concrete
Concrete is tough stuff, yet it is porous and a little crumbly on top. Walk across an uncoated slab for a few years and you will see the signs: a film of gray dust that keeps coming back, dark patches where oil soaked in, pale rings from old paint cans, and a surface that seems to swallow whatever light the room has.
Sealers help a bit, and paint looks good for a while. Paint is the option people tend to regret, because it only sits on the surface and starts to flake wherever the floor gets real use. Around Melissa the slab has a harder time, too. Much of Collin County sits on heavy Blackland Prairie clay, related to Houston Black, the Texas state soil, which expands after rain and pulls back in drought. That movement is why hairline cracks are so common here, and why those cracks deserve attention before anything goes on top.

What an Epoxy Coating Does Differently
Epoxy starts as two liquids, a resin and a hardener. Mixed together, they set off a chemical reaction and cure into a rigid, tightly bonded layer. Poured over freshly ground concrete, the mixture soaks in before it hardens, which is what separates it from a coat of floor paint.
The result is a floor with no grout lines or seams to trap dirt. Spills sit on top long enough to wipe up. Dust stays locked in. A light color can make a dim workshop or utility room noticeably brighter without changing a single fixture.
Where It Earns Its Keep
These are the spaces we get asked about most, at home and at work.
Workshops
Pale gray or tan brightens the bench area and shows every lost screw.
Laundry and mudrooms
Puddles, soap and tracked-in mud become a quick wipe-down.
Home gyms
A clean, continuous surface under mats and racks.
Retail and showrooms
A polished look that stands up to daily foot traffic.
Offices and salons
Easy to keep tidy, with plenty of color options.
Back rooms and storage
No more concrete dust settling on your inventory.
For Melissa Businesses
Commercial floors have an extra job: they need to look right for customers and stay safe for the people walking on them. Federal OSHA rules on walking-working surfaces call for floors to be kept clean and, as far as feasible, dry, so an easy-to-clean surface with suitable traction is a practical choice as well as a nice-looking one.
With new shops and offices opening along US 75 and SH 121, many business owners want a floor that looks finished on opening day. Others are refreshing an older space and need to keep disruption low. Mention your hours and any deadlines when you ask for an estimate so the schedule can be discussed early.
How the Work Goes
Assess
Check the slab for cracks, moisture, stains and existing coatings.
Grind
Use diamond tooling to open the concrete, with extra attention along the edges.
Repair
Fill cracks, pits and damaged spots, then level them.
Prime and coat
Apply the epoxy base, with color as a solid tint or a flake broadcast.
Seal
Finish with a clear topcoat chosen for the wear the room will see.
Choosing a Finish
Solid color
Clean and simple. Popular in workshops and commercial rooms, though it shows dust more than flake does.
Flake
A speckled blend that hides dirt and adds some texture underfoot.
Satin or gloss
Gloss reflects more light, while satin is a little more forgiving of scratches.
Added grip
A fine additive in the topcoat helps in areas that get wet.

What Affects the Cost
Floor coatings start at $6 per square foot. The number for your project comes from your estimate, and these are the things that tend to shape it:
Floor size and layout
Open rooms are simpler than ones with lots of corners and edges.
Concrete condition
Deep stains, cracks and uneven areas take more preparation.
What is on the floor now
Old paint, glue or a failed coating has to come off first.
Your finish
The color system and topcoat you choose affect materials and labor.

Epoxy Floor Coatings Questions
Have another question? Call (469) 425-2394, 9:45–6:00 daily.
Is epoxy good for a laundry room or mudroom?
Yes, as long as the slab is dry and well prepared. A coated floor is easy to clean and handles everyday water and dirt. Adding texture helps because those rooms can get wet underfoot.
Will an epoxy floor yellow?
Some epoxies can amber with long exposure to sunlight. Rooms with strong sun, like garages with west-facing doors, usually call for a UV-stable topcoat.
Can epoxy go over a floor with cracks?
Usually, after repairs. Stable cracks can be filled and ground flush. Active movement is a different problem, and a coating will not stop it.
Do you coat commercial spaces?
Yes. Shops, offices, showrooms and salons are all good candidates. Tell us what the space is used for and when it needs to reopen.
